Yesterday my Dad got angry because we couldn’t go out because my sister and I were doing homework and it got too late to go to the beach (which was where he wanted to spend the Sunday afternoon). And he refused to talk to anyone. He didn’t reply even when I greeted him ‘good night’ when I went to bed. He was especially angry because he would be working next Sunday, which meant we would totally not have the chance to go out at all.

It’s not the first time.

I feel very bad when my Dad gets angry during the weekends because I’m always too busy doing homework to go out, and my parents work so late on weekdays I sometimes don’t even see my Dad 2 days in a row because he comes home too late and I only see my Mum for 10 minutes in the morning when she sees me off and then approximately 2 hours at night, and so weekends are supposed to be used for spending time together.

But often, I am too busy doing homework.

Which starts me thinking whether it’s me, or the homework. Because I know I have a lack of self-discipline, so I often waste a lot of time. And I am a perfectionist, so I waste a lot of time because often I am way too meticulous. But then again, there should be no homework on the weekends. What good would be the 5 day work week, then? It was implemented so that families could spend time together during the weekends. But now, I see it only as 6 days work squished into 5 days. And still spilling over into 6 days. And 7 days.

SO WHAT’S THE BLOODY POINT?
