Let’s paint the town red

Foot Rest

with 3 comments

Us Singaporean teenagers have plenty of faults.

We swear plenty, talk really loud. Girls dress in skimpy clothes, so much so they might as well be dressed in their birthday suits. The guys can be real jerks sometimes. And so on.
We might not be the best bunch of people to have around. That’s obvious.

The generation of elders laments about our shortcomings a lot.

But here’s one thing they would do that we wouldn’t.
And that is to remove their feet from their sandals and prop them onto the empty seat during a bus ride. (think of the feet on the seats whose backs are parallel to the side of the bus)

I’m certain I’m not the only one who has witnessed this.

I personally find it disgusting. Not to mention unsightly. As it is known, all those uncles/aunties out there might not be so particular about hygiene, having lived through the period of kampongs/climbing trees. Okay maybe just the uncles. Therefore they might not be so eager to trim their toenails or wash their feet and scrub off dead skin.

Right, so imagine those feet on the seat. Leaving armies of germs on the seat. Which some unsuspecting person (could be you, or me) could sit on.

Thought to mention it since I saw one uncle doing just that today as I was going home on the bus. It quite freaks me out because I do sit on the seat where some old person might put his dirty bare feet on.

  2. I don’t like people who don’t get up to let you pass when it’s your stop. They just squirm/bunch up like they’re very skinny. Annoying poots.
