Let’s paint the town red

Grey Skies

There’s something about rainy days that make me want to stack all my books and homework next to the rubbish bin, sit down to watch a good DVD and eat chocolate. Or read a good book. Or (and this is the best option of all) sleep. It’s this magical spell that the rain casts over us, making us happier, more relaxed and more at peace with the world (and sleepier). It provides a calming atmosphere. It slows the world down.

Which isn’t something to complain about. 🙂

THE 59th STREET BRIDGE SONG (Feelin’ Groovy)
Slow down, you’re movin’ too fast,
You’ve got to make the mornin’ last,
Just a-kickin’ down the cobblestones,
Lookin’ for fun and Feelin’ Groovy,
Ba, da, da, da, da, Feelin’ Groovy.
Hello lampost,
What ya knowin’?
I’ve come to watch your flowers growin’,
Ain’t you got no rhymes for me,
Da, doo, ‘n, da, doo, doo, Feelin’ Groovy,
Ba, da, da, da, da, Feelin’ Groovy.
I got no deeds to do,
No promises to keep,
I’m dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep,
Let the morning-time drop all its pedals on me,
Life, I love you,
All is groovy.
(Ba, da, da, da, da, etc.)

Simon & Garfunkel

It’s a nice old song to appreciate 🙂
There aren’t many songs like these nowadays. Much of modern music is based on strange, shallow songs with absolutely no meaning to their lyrics.
Hmm thinking of it, that’s why it’s called ‘modern’, I guess 🙂
